My Story

Growing up home schooled meant I went to work with my mom every day, and when your mom's a Chiropractor, you get to learn about more than just your a,b,c's! Some of my earliest memories are captured at her sweet family clinic in Santa Clarita, California, where I was considered the "entertainment" and took it upon myself to talk with the patients while they waited for their doctor. At a very young age I learned bed side manners, as well as the concept of holistic medicine. Fast forward to 2020 when things were quite uncertain and I developed anxiety. I went back to my roots to treat this newfound fear in my life and turned heavily to yoga and meditation. Meditation brought me to a pretty little singing bowl I just so happened to have more for aesthetic purposes than anything, and I found I was able to have much more positive sessions when I brought in my singing bowl. This lead me to find out how powerful frequencies are to our bodies that are also made up if vibrations. After falling deep into the rabbit hole of sound therapy, I wanted more, and I wondered what was next. I reached out to my acupuncturist I had been seeing on and off from the age of 16, and she led me to the school she learned from, and from there, my life would change forever. I am constantly reminded to be thankful no matter where you're at, because you have no idea when you're being prepped for something even bigger than yourself.

What is a sound bath?

Sound baths have been practiced throughout Tibet for over 2,000 years. Recently they've gained popularity in the Western hemisphere as a relaxation technique with a similar feel to yoga and meditation. Sound baths are most widely known to be centralized around singing bowls accompanied by other ancient instruments such as gongs, chimes, drums, and more.  While relaxation of the body and mind is a wonderful benefit, there are many more to be had! Sound baths work to balance the chakras by resonating with each note connected to it's perspective chakra. Being in perfect balance with the mind and body promotes: calming nerves and anxiety, easing depression, combating insomnia, therapeutically subsiding chronic pain, boosts in creativity, deepened and intensified meditation.

What does Makia Mean?

Pronounced - mah-kee-ah.

Makia is part of the Hawaiian philosophy of life called, Huna. It features 7 principles: Ike, Kala, Makia, Manawa, Aloha, Mana, and Pono. Makia is based on the phrase, "Energy flows where attention goes."

Whatever you are constantly putting your energy into, your attention automatically follows. For example, if you're constantly talking about your dream car, you'll start noticing them driving around everywhere because your attention is drawn on that specifically.

We fell in love with the philosophy of Makia because it goes to show that our minds are really our limits. We are as limited as we believe we are, therefore we are as Unlimited as we believe we are. So we are making it our goal to keep the minds of our world clean, and healthy, to promote the strongest minds for generations to come.

What should I expect during my first session?

We start every session by putting our Makia philosophy of "Energy flows where attention goes," to work, by asking the group to individually set their intention. Then we'll warm up with some gentle stretching and ratio breath work. During the sound bath portion, some see colors, visions, memories. Some get creatively charged and inspired. And some get the best sleep of their lives! Everyone experiences something different, and it changes every time! Just remember to let yourself go where you're needed, to heal yourself from the inside out. Lay back, relax, and go with the flow.

However, we always encourage you to bring anything you might like with you to keep yourself as comfortable as possible; whether it's your favorite crystal, essential oil, pillow, best friend or anything you can think of! Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture needles are made of surgical steal with laser carved tips, making them extremely sharp and easy to glide under the skin. The most common thing we hear is "that was it?" because you often don't even feel the needles at all! The most uncomfortable sensation you should ever feel is a quick pinch and it should never last longer than a few seconds. If ever it does last longer, the needle will immediately be adjusted or removed.

What should I wear?

Something loose and comfy!

Sound baths are all about being free to be you so wear whatever you'd like!

Acupuncture often requires access to the knee area as well as shoulders and parts of the back, so loose, flexible clothing is preferred in order to give the best treatment possible.
